Honours

Possible projects include:

Working on a system that will detect single atoms in a high finesse optical cavity. This project is a collaboration with the BEC group.

Experiments on optical memory: Using the gradient echo memory we can store pulses of light and release them at a time of our choosing. This technique is new and there is lots to do.

Gradient memory theory: We have a model of this system that shows a normal mode in the spatial Fourier domain, but much remains to be understood both analytically and via numerical models.
