The new lathe

In October 2010 we took delivery of a new nano-precision lathe. We plan to use this device to manufacture crystalline whispering gallery mode cavities for non-linear optics, sensing and quantum light sources. The package weighed in at 2 tonnes and we didn't drop it...

The ANU quantum teleportation experiment was originally in the gravitational wave laboratory. In early 2007, is was moved, optics and all into a new lab in the building next door. This is how it was done.
